The Garage Band

Music music music!

I've been involved one way or another in music for most of my life. I'm from upstate New York and was born in a little town called Wellsville, nestled in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, ten miles north of the Pennsylvania border on the Genesse River. My Dad sang and played Guitar along with my Mom who sang. My Grandmother played piano and my uncle played a homemade fiddle made out of a baseball bat. That was in the 50's. I had a lot of exposure early on to music of a “Down Home sort of look and feel”. I started playing the guitar in 1961 and then along came the Beatles. We all know that story, nothing was ever going to be the same. Had a band in high school,
“JB and the Merseybeats” from 1963 to 1966. I enlisted in the Air Force in 1966 served 4 years and got out in 1970 where I immediately got a band together with my high school buddies and have never looked back.

I Moved to California in 1978 built a recording studio in my Garage, recorded local bands and worked on original material. I've been involved in the recording end of the business now for 30 some odd years. I currently work out of Campbell California with Robert Berry at Soundtek Studios and at Mark Shelby's home studio called “The Attic” producing and writing songs for his daughter, Amanda.

I married my lovely wife Mary Ellen in 1989 who by the way is one of the lead singers in “The Garage Band” and mother to our 2 beautiful boys, Michael and Thomas. Michael plays guitar and sings in a band called “Undergone” while Thomas is a drummer and singer as well.

I'm a founding member of the Garage Band along with Jeff Mayer and Jack Ortolani. Along the way I've appeared on the stage of the Grand Ol' Opry independent of “The Garage Band” with Willie Nelson, Steve Wariner, Tanya Tucker, Trisha Yearwood, Lee Greenwood, Roger Miller, Minnie Pearl, Loretta Lynn just to name a few. I've done TV specials for NBC, TBS AND FOX. I've produced many albums over the years and am currently working with lots of bay area vocalists as a vocal coach. There's no slowing down at this point and it's a whole lot of fun to know that I'm still learning each and everyday, new ways to sing, to play guitar, Mandolin, Bass and to Produce and communicate with my Artists and Band mates.

Life's good !!!
